This specimen was lot 297 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €48 (about US$65 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG IN FRANKEN. Christian Friedrich Karl Alexander, 1757-1791. 2 1/2 Kreuzer 1785, Bayreuth. Münzmeister Johann Christian Eberhardt. Münzwardein Johann Sixt David Brecht. Slg. Grüber (Auktion Künker 267) 4816. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (margraviate of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, Christian Frederick Charles Alexander, 1757-91, 2½ kreuzer of 1785, Bayreuth mint. Extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

Christian Friedrich Carl Alexander, the last margrave, sold his province to his cousin, the king of Prussia, in 1791. The margrave then retired to a peaceful manor in Britain while Wilhelm attempted to cope with French invasion and occupation. This type of 1779-86 is common.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: billon.
