Brandenburg-Bayreuth 1783-EP thaler Dav-2025
This specimen was lot 293 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €600 (about US$809 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG IN FRANKEN. Christian Friedrich Karl Alexander, 1757-1791. Konv.-Taler 1783, Bayreuth. Slg. Grüber (Auktion Künker 267) 4793. Vorzüglich. (margraviate of Brandenburg-Bayreuth, Christian Frederick Charles Alexander, 1757-91, convention thaler of 1783, Bayreuth mint, extremely fine.)"
This rare issue, the last noted for the state, could easily have been listed under Brandenburg-Ansbach, the two margraviates having been united since 1769.
