This specimen was lot 621 in Jean Elsen sale 157 (Brussels, December 2023), where it sold for €2,400 (about US$3,095 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRABANT, Duché, Philippe IV (1621-1665), AV double souverain, 1639, Anvers. Deuxième type. D/ B. couronné à d., au mince collet. R/ Ecu couronné, entouré du collier de la Toison d'or. Très Beau. (duchy of Brabant, Philip IV, gold double souvereign of 1639, Antwerp mint, second type. Obverse: crowned bust right with thin collar; reverse: crowned arms with the Order of the Golden Fleece around. Very Fine.)"
This type is listed for Flanders, Tournai and Artois but is nowhere common. In 1637, the bust was revised to show a much smaller ruffed collar. The hand mintmark denotes this as a Antwerp issue.
