Sincona sale 51, lot 2251

This specimen was lot 2251 in Sincona sale 51 (Zürich, October 2018), where it sold for 3,100 CHF (about US$3,739 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Tournai, Herrschaft, Philipp IV. 1621-1665. 2 Souverain dor 1639 (über 1638), Tournai. Sehr selten. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Leichter Doppelschlag, knapper Schrötling und kleine Kratzer im Avers. (county of Tournai, Philip IV, 1621-65, double souverain d'or of 1639, Tournai mint. Very rare, Very fine-extremely fine, Slightly double struck, small flan and some scratches on obverse.)"

This type is listed for Brabant, Flanders and Artois but is nowhere common. In 1637, the bust was revised to show a much smaller ruffed collar.
