This specimen was lot 23179 in Heritage sale 61343 (Dallas, TX, November 2023), where it sold for $3,840. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mint State Bolivia 8 Scudos, Republic gold 8 Scudos 1855 PTS-MJ MS61 NGC, Potosi mint. Crisp and lustrous, struck with even comportment. Tied at the penultimate grade point at NGC with one other specimen. Ex. Sedwick Treasure Auction 18 (October 2015, Lot 99)." This type was struck 1852-57 and is not rare but usually found impaired. Assayers LM and MJ contributed in 1855.
