This specimen was lot 841 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it sold for $2,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Potosí, gold bust 4 escudos, Charles IV, 1799 PP, rare, NGC XF 40, ex-Almenara. Deep gold color with traces of toning and luster at the full rims, just light honest wear, second finest in NGC census. Pedigreed to the Almenara Collection." This type is very scarce as is most colonial gold from Bolivia. Some of the later dates have recorded mintages under a thousand.
