This specimen was lot 842 in Sedwick Auction 37 (Winter Park, FL, May 2025), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA, Potosí, gold bust 4 escudos, Charles IV, 1801 PP, rare, NGC XF details / obv tooled, ex-Almenara. Buttery yellow color with much luster (especially on the reverse) and light toning, some small marks on obverse (not as bad as NGC implies). Pedigreed to the Almenara Collection." This type is very scarce as is most colonial gold from Bolivia.

Recorded mintage: 13,000.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.875 fine gold, .380 troy oz AGW.
