This specimen was lot 22282 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. Real, 1789-PTS PR. Potosi Mint. Charles IV. NGC VF-25. Three-year transitional type. Highly elusive as an issue with attractive multicolored hues within the rich base of tone on both sides." This transitional type was struck 1789-91; a posthumous issue of Charles III (KM 52a) was struck also struck in 1789.
