Sincona sale 6, lot 571

This specimen was lot 571 in Sincona sale 6 (Zürich, May 2012), where it sold for 75 CHF (about US$92 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, 1806 Königreich Maximilian IV. (I.) Joseph, 1799-1825. Kronentaler 1816. Kr. Gutes sehr schön. (kingdom of Bavaria, Maximilian I Joseph, 1799-1825, crown thaler of 1816, hairlines, good very fine.)"

This type of 1809-25 is common. Also struck during Max's reign were convention thalers (Dav-551, 28 g, 0.833 fine).

Recorded mintage: 2,261,286.

Specification: 29.34 g, 0.868 fine silver, .819 troy oz ASW; this specimen is 29,28 g.
