This specimen is lot 333 in UBS sale 84 (Basel, January 2010). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND. Bayern, Königreich. Maximilian IV. Joseph, 1799-1825. Konventionstaler 1818. Auf die Verfassung. Kl. Kr. Fast FDC" (Germany, kingdom of Bavaria, Maximilian IV Joseph, 1799-1825, convention thaler of 1818. Nice uncirculated).
This type was struck to commemorate the royal grant of a constitution. The SCWC prices this type considerably cheaper than the regular issue (KM 355, struck 1807-22).
Recorded mintage: 40,000.
