Sincona sale 9, lot 3696

This specimen was lot 3696 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 375 CHF (about US$474 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, 1806 Königreich Maximilian IV. (I.), 1799-1825. Konventionstaler 1822. Fast FDC. (Kingdom of Bavaria, Maximilian IV, 1799-1825, convention thaler of 1822, choice uncirculated.)"

This type, struck 1822-25, is rather scarce compared to the similar convention thaler of 1807-22. The fineness was lowered from .868 to .833 in 1827.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.868 fine silver.
