Sincona sale 9, lot 3697

This specimen was lot 3697 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$285 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Königreich Ludwig I. 1825-1848. Konventionstaler 1825. Regierungsantritt. Sehr schön. (Kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, convention thaler of 1825, on his coronation, very fine.)"

This type, struck 1825 only, was likely saved as a souvenir. The fineness was lowered from .868 to .833 in 1827.
