Sincona sale 6, lot 573

This specimen was lot 573 in Sincona sale 6 (Zürich, May 2012), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$800 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, 1806 Königreich Ludwig I. 1825-1848. Konventionstaler 1826. Reichenbach und Fraunhofer. Kl. Kr. Fast FDC. (kingdom of Bavaria, Louis I, 1825-48, convention thaler of 1826 on the death of Reichenbach and Fraunhofer, choice uncirculated.)"

This type of 1826 is somewhat scarce. The convention thaler was 28.06 g; the later vereinsthaler was 18.52 g.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver, .751 troy oz ASW; this specimen is 27,97 g.
