This specimen was lot 29478 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,527.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bavaria. Maximilian IV Josef as King gold Ducat 1816 MS61 NGC. Fully lustrous with semi-reflective, golden surfaces, well-struck details and wispy hairlines in the exposed fields. Even so, a very scarce type, especially in mint state." This type was issued in small numbers 1807-22 with a very similar type issued 1823-25 (KM 718). None are cheap.
