This specimen was lot 23852 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[2] noted, "Bavaria. Maximilian Joseph Taler 1816, MS63 NGC, nice original patina with full mint brilliance, a choice example with excellent eye appeal. From The J.G. Collection." This type of 1807-22 is rather scarce. Also struck during Max's reign were kronenthalers (Dav-552, 29.34 g, 0.868 fine).

Recorded mintage: 11,000.

Specification: 28 g, 0.833 fine silver, 41 mm diameter, lettered edge.
