Bavaria 1814 thaler Dav-551
This specimen was lot 765 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 80 CHF (about US$99 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Königreich Maximilian IV. (I.) Joseph, 1799-1825. Konventionstaler 1814, München. Hksp. und Felder Rv. lt. bearb. Sehr schön. (Germany, kingdom of Bavaria, Maximilian Joseph, 1799-1825, convention thaler of 1814, Munich mint. Pierced and mounted, tooling on reverse, very fine.)"
This type of 1807-22 is rather scarce. Also struck during Max's reign were kronenthalers (Dav-552, 29.34 g, 0.868 fine) which are much more common.
