This specimen was lot 20550 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Bavaria. Taler, 1814. NGC MS-65. Fully struck with variegated, mostly light tone over highly lustrous surfaces. Exceptional quality and the lone example graded MS-65 for the type at NGC. Ex: D. Moore Collection." This type of 1809-25 is common. Also struck during Max's reign were convention thalers (Dav-551, 28 g, 0.833 fine).
