This specimen was lot 194 in Sincona Auction 103 (Zürich, May 2026), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$2,439 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"DEUTSCHLAND Bayern, Herzogtum, seit 1806 Königreich, Maximilian IV. (I.) Joseph, 1799-1825. Dukat 1821, München. Variante mit Stempelfehler BAEIRN in der Vorderseitenumschrift. Selten. Vorzüglich. Winzige Kratzer. (Germany, kingdom of Bavaria, Maximilian IV Joseph, 1799-1825, ducat of 1821, Munich mint, variety with error "BAEIRN" in the obverse legend. Rare, Extremely Fine, Tiny scratches.)"
The king had several ducats struck in 1821, including KM 703 (obverse legend "BAIERN") struck 1807-22, KM 710 (obverse legend "BAEIRN", shown here) struck 1821-22, KM 711, KM 712 (Inn river gold), KM 713 (Isar river gold) and KM 714 (Rhine river gold).
