Bavaria 1821 ducat Fr-267
This specimen was lot 1781 in Künker sale 352 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €5,500 (about US$7,654 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BAYERN, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, Maximilian I. (IV.) Joseph, 1799-1806-1825. Dukat 1821. Inngold. Kopf r.//Der Flußgott lagert nach r. mit dem rechten Arm auf eine Wasserurne gelehnt; mit der Linken hält er das bayerische Wappen. GOLD. RR Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Erworben 1956 bei der Firma Julius Jenke, München. (Germany, kingdom of Bavaria, Maximilian IV Joseph, ducat of 1821, gold from the Inn. Obverse: head right; reverse: the river god reclining right, pouring water from an urn in his right hand and supporting the Bavarian arms with his left. Rare, very fine to extremely fine. Bought from Julius Jenke in 1956.)"
This ducat honored gold panned from the Inn River. Other ducats for 1821 include KM 703, KM 710, 711, 713 and KM 714.
