This specimen was lot 30648 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $1,292.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Bavaria. Karl Theodor gold Ducat 1781 AU55 NGC, Munich mint, A well-detailed example of trade coinage with attractive prooflike surfaces and incredible reverse mint luster." The Elector of Bavaria issued this ducat 1778-93 but despite the many years of production it is rare.
