Künker sale 335, lot 3583

This specimen was lot 3583 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €55 (about US72 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BAYERN, SEIT 1623 KURFÜRSTENTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH: Karl Theodor, 1777-1799. 20 Kreuzer 1778, A, Amberg. Fast vorzüglich. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Charles Theodore, 1777-99, twenty kreuzer of 1778, Amberg mint. about extremely fine.)"

An extensive series of this denomination was produced for Bavaria. This type was minted at Amberg 1778-83 and at Munich 1778-99, with the Amberg product being awarded a substantially higher catalog value.
