Sincona sale 47, lot 2556

This specimen was lot 2556 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$390 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND, Basel, Stadt und Kanton Basel, Dritteltaler 1764. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. NGC MS63. (city and canton of Basel, one-third thaler of 1764. Rare in this condition, choice uncirculated.)"

This is the only one-third thaler from this state in the eighteenth century. It was also struck in 1766.
