Áureo y Calicó sale 345, lot 625

This specimen was lot 625 in Áureo y Calicó sale 345 (Barcelona, March 2020), where it sold for €75 (about US$99 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"1809. Catalunya Napoleónica. Barcelona. 4 cuartos. Buen ejemplar. Ex Colección Manuela Etcheverría. MBC+. (kingdom of Spain, French occupation of Catalonia, four quartos of 1809, Barcelona mint. Nice example, choice very fine.)"

This type was struck in Barcelona 1808-14 for circulation in Catalonia during the French occupation. Some were cast instead of struck. No mention is made of the titular king of Spain, Joseph Napoleon, Napoleon's older brother. Half, one and two quartos also exist.
