This specimen is one of a type struck at the Royal mint for the Bahamas 1966-70. Subsequent fifteen cents (KM 19) had a revised obverse legend and in 1974 the bust of the queen was dropped in favor of the arms of the Bahamas. The Franklin Mint produced this denomination 1971-85 and the denomination was last produced in 1996. The hibiscus reverse makes this coin a popular souvenir for sunburned tourists.
