Bahamas 1966 dollar rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen is one of a type struck at the Royal mint for the Bahamas 1966-70. Subsequent dollars (KM 22) had a revised obverse legend and in 1974 the bust of the queen was dropped in favor of the arms of the Bahamas. The Franklin Mint produced this denomination 1971-85 and the silver was eliminated in 1981. The conch shell reverse makes this coin a popular souvenir for sunburned tourists.

Recorded mintage: 405,000.

Specification: 18.14 g, 0.800 fine silver, 34 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 8.
