This specimen is one of a type struck at the Royal mint for the Bahamas 1966-70. Subsequent ten cents (KM 18) had a revised obverse legend and in 1974 the bust of the queen was dropped in favor of the arms of the Bahamas. The Franklin Mint produced this denomination 1971-85. The bonefish on the reverse makes this coin a popular souvenir for sunburned tourists.
