Bahamas 1966 5 cents rev DSLR.jpg

This specimen is one of a type struck at the Royal mint for the Bahamas 1966-70. Subsequent five cents (KM 17) had a revised obverse legend and in 1974 the bust of the queen was dropped in favor of the arms of the Bahamas. The Franklin Mint produced this denomination 1971-85. The pineapple reverse makes this coin a popular souvenir for sunburned tourists.

Recorded mintage: 2,571,000.

Specification: 3.87 g, copper-nickel, 21 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 3.
