Sincona sale 18, lot 1222

This specimen was lot 1222 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 6,250 (about US$8,235 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"10 Gulden 1819. Mannheim Selten. Vorzüglich. (Grand duchy of Baden-Durlach, ten gulden of 1819, Mannheim mint, rare, extremely fine.)"

The ten gulden denomination was issued 1819-25 and all dates are rare. The grand duchy issued coins until 1918.

Recorded mintage: 4,332.

Specification: 6.87 g, 0.903 fine gold, .199 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 6.85 g.
