Sincona sale 18, lot 1223

This specimen was lot 1223 in Sincona sale 18 (Zürich, May 2014), where it sold for CHF 6,500 (about US$8,565 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"10 Gulden 1821. Mannheim Sehr selten, nur 812 Exemplare geprägt. Vorzüglich-gutes vorzüglich. (Grand duchy of Baden-Durlach, ten gulden of 1821, Mannheim mint, very rare, extremely fine to good extremely fine.)"

The ten gulden denomination was issued 1819-25 and all dates are rare. The grand duchy issued coins until 1918.

Recorded mintage: 812.

Specification: 6.87 g, 0.903 fine gold, .199 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 6.87 g.
