Baden 1819-D thaler Dav-515
This specimen was lot 20265 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Baden. Taler, 1819/8-D. NGC MS-63. The 1819/8 overdate is not mentioned in KM or on the NGC label. Key date of a type struck 1814-19. A few tiny planchet flaws on the obverse, very minor adjustment marks on the reverse. Sharply struck with light attractive toning and quite good eye appeal." This type is listed for 1814-19 and is rather scarce for a nineteenth century thaler. The SCWC does not mention the engraver's initial "D" on the reverse but it is clearly there.
Recorded mintage: unknown but the key date.
Specification: 29.48 g, 0.872 fine silver.
