This specimen was lot 1104 in Jean Elsen sale 164 (Brussels, March 2026), where it sold for €1,900 (about US$2,645 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRABANT, Duché, Marie-Thérèse (1740-1780), AR escalin, 1751, Anvers. D/ Lion deb. à g., brandissant une épée et ten. l'écu de Bourgogne. R/ Écu couronné sur une croix de Bourgogne. Superbe. (duchy of Brabant, Maria Theresia, 1740-80, silver escalin of 1751, Antwerp mint. Obverse: lion rampant left, brandishing a sword and holding the arms of Burgundy; reverse: crowned arms over a Burgundian cross. Extremely Fine.)"

This type was struck in 1751-54 (Antwerp and Bruges) and 1763-68 (Brussels) during the reign of Maria Theresia. The SCWC prices all the dates the same. This denomination was accompanied by a double escalin or schelling and marks a resumption of coinage for the Austrian Netherlands, which had lapsed about 1706.
