Austrian Netherlands 1751(l) 20 liards

from Steve Album sale 45, lot 1398

This specimen was lot 1398 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $450. The catalog description^[1] noted, "AUSTRIAN NETHERLANDS: Maria Theresia, 1740-1780, AR 20 liards, Bruges, 1751, a superb mint state example! PCGS graded MS65, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This type was struck at Bruges (shown here) and Brussels 1750-54. The type is not rare so the reported mintage is likely incorrect. Twenty liards = five sols.

Recorded mintage: 1,176 for 1750-51.

Specification: 0.583 fine silver.
