This specimen was lot 388 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €8,000 (about US$10,379 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Franz II. 1792-1804. Konv.-Taler 1792, A, Wien. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung AU 58 (6862143-003). Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Feine Patina, vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Francis II, 1792-1804, convention thaler of 1792, Vienna mint. Graded NGC AU58, very scarce, especially in this quality, choice example with fine patina, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1792-1804 while Francis II was Holy Roman Emperor. The type is common but some of the dates are scarce, including this one. The issues after 1800 are catalogued as Dav-3. Other Austrian thalers of 1792 featured griffins on the reverse (Dav-1176) or the Madonna (Dav-1177).

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: 28.06 g, 0.833 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 2158; Dav-1178; J. 109.
