Künker sale 400, lot 339

This specimen was lot 339 in Künker sale 400 (Berlin, February 2024), where it sold for €3,200 (about US$4,152 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand III. 1625-1637-1657. Doppelter Reichstaler 1640, Graz. R Min. Kratzer, vorzüglich/vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand III, 1637-57, double thaler of 1640, Graz mint. Rare, minor scratches, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This type was struck 1639-41 only and is expensive. The 1640 is an unlisted date. It is accompanied by a triple thaler Dav-LS290.
