This specimen was lot 3200 in Sincona Auction 101 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 4,000 CHF (about US$6,029 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR / ÖSTERREICH Ferdinand II. 1619-1637. 2 Taler 1640/31, Graz. Posthume Prägung. Die Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1631 geändert. Selten. Vorzüglich. Hübsche Patina. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1619-37, double thaler of 1640, Graz mint, 1640/31 overdate, posthumous strike. Rare, Extremely Fine, Attractively toned.)"
This is a posthumous strike of a double thaler originally issued in 1631.
