Sincona sale 23, lot 3004

This specimen was lot 3004 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 3,700 CHF (about US$4,648 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR/ÖSTERREICH, Ferdinand III. 1637-1657 Doppeltaler 1639. Graz. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand III (1637-57), double thaler of 1639, Graz mint, very fine to extremely fine.)"

The type was struck 1639 and 1641 only and is expensive. It is accompanied by a triple thaler Dav-LS290.
