This specimen was lot 29322 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $1,415.01. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ferdinand II Taler 1627 MS63 NGC, Graz mint. Essentially free of noticeable marks, and thus choice for the issue, with significant retained luster beneath aged gold and gray cabinet tone. The finest example of this Davenport number in the NGC census." This type was struck at Graz 1626-31 and is among the more common issues of the period.
