Künker sale 293, lot 1550

This specimen was lot 1550 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,504 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Rudolf II. 1576-1612. Reichstaler 1604, Hall. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Kabinettstück. Herrliche Tönung, fast Stempelglanz. (Holy Roman Empire, Rudolf II, 1576-1612, thaler of 1604, Hall mint. Very scarce in this quality, cabinet piece, beautiful toning, about uncirculated.)"

This particular type is listed for 1602-05 and closely related types with the portrait of Rudolf II were struck at Hall, Vienna and Graz until his death in 1612. For 1604, these types included Dav-3002, Dav-3005B, Dav-3005C and Dav-3307A.
