This specimen was lot 4720 in Künker sale 441 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €500 (about US$688 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Ferdinand II., 1592-1618-1637. Reichstaler 1622, Ensisheim. Feine Patina, kl. Stempelfehler, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II, 1618-37, thaler of 1622, Ensisheim mint. Fine patina, minor die cracks, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck at Ensisheim 1621-22. It is scarce but not rare. The Ensisheim mint also struck thalers for archduke Leopold V in 1622 (Dav-3347). The Hapsburg lost their holdings in Upper Alsace to France as a result of the Thirty Years war.
