Stephen Album sale 50, lot 1442

This specimen was lot 1442 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Abdur Rahman, 1880-1901, AV tilla (mithqal), Kabul, AH1313, toughra within wreath, with his title diya' al-milla wa'l-din // mosque, with Allah akbar ("God is Great") above, mint name to right, denomination "one mithqal" to left, date below; slightly weak strike, XF, RR, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection. No examples of this type are on CoinArchives, ACSearch, or Zeno." Milled coinage was introduced to Afghanistan during the reign of Abdur Rahman (1880-1901). This type was struck AH 1313 only.
