Stephen Album sale 50, lot 1443

This specimen was lot 1443 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Abdur Rahman, 1880-1901, AV tilla, NM (struck at Kabul), AH1314, toughra within wreath, with his title diya' al-milla wa'l-din date below and also in tiny numerals within the wreath // mosque above selection of crossed arms, XF-AU, R, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection." Milled coinage was introduced to Afghanistan during the reign of Abdur Rahman (1880-1901). This type was struck AH 1314 only. It is not believed to exist in uncirculated condition.
