This specimen was lot 72468 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $120. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN. Rupee, AH 1309 (1892). Kabul Mint. Abdur Rahman. NGC MS-62. Displaying a tremendous eye appeal and luster, this wholesome and toned example delivers immense charm and eye appeal that is certain to capture much attention." Milled coinage was introduced to Afghanistan during the reign of Abdur Rahman (1880-1901). This type was struck at Kabul AH 1308-1313 and has a very low catalog value but is not priced above EF.
