Sincona sale 67, lot 4148

This specimen was lot 4148 in Sincona sale 67 (Zurich, October 2020), where it sold for 225 CHF (about US$296 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN | Qajar Dynasty | Nâsir al-dîn Shâh, 1264-1313 H./1848-1896 AD, Machine struck coinage, always with the mint name Tihrân, gold coins and patterns for gold coins. 1/5 Toman 1301 H. Extremely fine."

This gold coin was struck AH 1297-1301 and was worth one-fifth toman. With the coming of the milled coinage, all of the branch mints were closed and all production was completed in Tehran.
