Künker sale 354, lot 6365

This specimen was lot 6365 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €750 (about US$1,044 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSSILBERMÜNZEN, SACHSEN-MEININGEN, Georg II. 1866-1914. 2 Mark 1913. - Kurzer Bart -. Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Meiningen, George II, 1866-1914, two mark of 1913, short beard variety, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This scarce type was struck in 1902 and 1913. The next two mark, issued in 1915, commemorated the duke's death.

Recorded mintage: 5,000 + proofs.

Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, reeded edge, 28 mm diameter.
