Zurich 1728 20 schilling
This specimen was lot 4667 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 250 CHF (about US$363 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, 20 Schilling (Halbgulden) 1728/7, Zürich. Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1727 geändert. Seltener Jahrgang. Schön-sehr schön. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, twenty schilling or half gulden of 1728, Zürich mint, 1728/7 overdate. Rare date, Fine-Very Fine.)"
This type was struck 1718-36, 1739-45, 1748, 1751-58, 1761, 1767-68. At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the thaler was raised from 72 to 80 schilling, making this one quarter thaler.
