Künker Auction 425, lot 2525

This specimen was lot 2525 in Künker Auction 425 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €7,000 (about US$9,912 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHE MÜNZEN AB 1871 · REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, MECKLENBURG-STRELITZ Friedrich Wilhelm, 1860-1904. 20 Mark 1874. R Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, grand duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Frederick William, 1860-1904, 20 mark of 1874. Rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This rare issue used the same obverse as the 1873 20 mark but had the denomination spelled "20 MARK" instead of the prior "20 M". It was accompanied by a ten mark (KM 106).

Recorded mintage: 6, 000.

Specification: 7.97 g, 0.900 fine gold, 22.5 mm diameter, reeded edge.
