Künker sale 294, lot 4099

This specimen was lot 4099 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €15,000 (about US$20,217 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, MECKLENBURG-STRELITZ, Friedrich Wilhelm, 1860-1904. 10 Mark 1880. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung MS 64. Selten, besonders in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. Fast Stempelglanz. (unified gold coinage, grand duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Frederick William, 1860-1904, ten mark of 1880, in NGC MS64 holder. Scarce, especially in this quality, prooflike, about uncirculated.)"

This rare type was struck 1874, 1880 only.
