This specimen was lot 6481 in Künker sale 354 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,100 (about US$1,531 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"REICHSGOLDMÜNZEN, HESSEN, Ludwig IV. 1877-1892. 10 Mark 1880. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, grand duchy of Hesse, Louis IV, 1877-92, ten mark of 1880. Very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck 1878-80 at Darmstadt for the grand duke. The mint there closed in 1882 and Hessian issues were coined at Berlin thereafter.
