This specimen was lot 74451 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brunswick-Luneburg: Wolfenbuttel. Taler, 1665-HS. Zellerfeld Mint; mm: HS and crossed keys. August "the Younger". PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, VF Details. Despite the grade and cleaning, one sees a well-struck specimen on a problem-free flan. The moderate, even wear does not detract from the underlying strength of the coin. Attractive. From the Robert C. Knepper Collection." This type was struck 1655-65 and is fairly common. Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel is famous for its long series of wild man thalers.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-6343; KM-444.1; Welter-823.
