Revision as of 12:54, 20 June 2025 by LatinKing2020 (talk | contribs) (Text replacement - "Zurich:" to "Zürich:")
This specimen was lot 415 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, 5 Kopecks 1857, St. Petersburg Mint, SPB FB. Very fine. Spot on obverse."
This type was struck 1832-58 in large quantities but is today seldom seen in nice condition. In 1860 the coin was lowered to 0.750 fine and then in 1867 lowered to 0.9 g, 0.500 fine. Copper five kopeks are also known for many dates.
Recorded mintage: 80,000, a better date.
Specification: 1.03 g, 0.868 fine silver, this specimen 1.02 g.
